Katherine Henson, penning as k.e. She self-published her first book, “wildflowers: the first collection” in 2016. Katherine has been writing for as long as she can remember, and it is both her love language and preferred choice of communication. For Katherine, writing has been a way to escape and discover; through body image issues, depression, anxiety, and loss Katherine has used her words as a way to be honest with herself, while also helping others understand that they are not alone.

the truth about shadows

Silence comes like the golden hour.
Strokes of beauty and peace.

But the darkness still holds.
Stuck in the midnight
just praying for a little sunlight.

This is the comfort we have built.
The home we have called for our soul.

A place drifting somewhere
between the rays and glow.

We indulge the warmth,
but quickly fall into the
routine of shadows.

Shadows are not
hauntings of darkness,
but a reminder that the sun
has something worth shining on.

These shadows
dancing silhouettes
of that which we hold so dear.

Shadows are not
a lingering of darkness,
but a reminder that the sun
still has beauty left to bask in.

For those of us
who find our faces
casted in these shadows
should count ourselves
lucky to such beauty.
