in all circumstances // 1 thessalonians 4
live in peace with one another. we urge you, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone … always be kind. be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances

This is who we are supposed to be. this is our calling now. Why? Because of this… “for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

This, this is the game changer

We are not free-standing human beings making up our life anymore. no, we are united with Christ now. not to an idea, ourselves, or the world, but to the living Christ - crucified, raised, and reigning over all. we stand in union with Him, because of God. God brought us to faith in Christ and now that faith instruments our life united with Christ. it’s breathtaking - bound to Christ! this changes everything. now we do all of these things - live in peace, warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, and live in patience and kindness - with a joyful, prayerful, and thankful heart, all rooted in Christ and not ourselves or the world. And this is God’s will in us, and it changes everything.

Anybody can live a good life. anybody can be kind spirited. anybody can walk patiently. But, you and me, yeah, we’re living past just the being good and kind and patient. Yeah, we are doing all of this in union with the Savior. We are doing so with love and purpose. No agenda, nothing to gain, no secrets. we are set apart now, we are no longer living the same now, no longer living for ourselves or for the world. in all that we do, we now do with Christ - and that’s the difference, and that’s what matters.
Don’t put out this fire. in all circumstance, remember this unity, remember this calling, remember these words. always, always approach life and people with this - shake the world.
